Diego Menjíbar Reynés - Multimedia Journalist

About me

Diego Menjíbar Reynés (1993, Spain), is a freelance multimedia journalist and internationally awarded photographer based in Nairobi, Kenya. The main themes of his work focus on documenting social issues, migration, and health of the world's most forgotten populations.

He is driven by a desire to change the narratives surrounding Africa, aiming to dismantle the catastrophic image often portrayed by the media in the Global North. That’s why, in addition to covering humanitarian crises and social issues—an essential part of his commitment to amplifying unheard voices—he also focuses on storytelling around arts and culture, topics often overlooked but, in his view, just as defining of the African continent.

Diego's work have taken place in the following countries: South Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Guinea, Mozambique, Malawi, Equatorial Guinea, Spain, Serbia, Nicaragua, Perú.

He is a contributor to El País, The Guardian, Christian Science Monitor, AFP and EPA. As a photographer and videographer, he  has worked for Doctors Without Borders (MSF), the United Nations, Save The Children and Solidarités International. Among other media, his work has been internationally published in media such as Corriere della Sera, Internazionale and The Telegraph.
